Clean clothes and a warm shower are a given!
Or are they?
Maybe for most – but for many, it’s not an everyday convenience, but rather a daily challenge. Compassion & Clean Clothes is more than just clean clothes – it’s the source of renewed energy and well-being. A breathing space where you can take a warm shower, do your laundry, and take a break from daily life.
There’s room here for everyone – young and old, many or few. Because where there is space for the heart, there is space for people – not just for practical needs, but for breathing, pausing, and simply being for a while.
Where to find Kilden
Kilden will be located in Sydhavn, Copenhagen – an area already home to established communities and initiatives reaching out to those in greatest need. Here, the mobile unit will become a natural part of the local environment.
The laundry van will be staffed three days a week to keep operations running and support Kilden’s users in accessing the facilities they need.
A joint effort
A vital effort
A large share of Denmark’s homeless population lives in the bigger cities – with the highest numbers in the capital region. Many sleep on the streets, in shelters or drop-in centres – often without access to basic hygiene facilities. That makes it difficult to get your clothes washed or to enjoy a warm, refreshing shower.
At Nortec, we believe that access to clean clothes and a warm shower shouldn’t be a privilege – it should be a given. With Kilden, we hope to make a small but meaningful difference for some of the people who need it the most. It’s about dignity, warmth, and humanity.
Tanja Christabel, Head of Sustainability at Nortec
Doing laundry at a coin-operated laundrette in the city can easily cost up to 100 DKK, which is simply out of reach for many vulnerable citizens.

Cozy opening ceremony
We celebrated the opening of Kilden with a cozy barbecue event! Stakeholders, partners and socially vulnerable individuals, who will benefit from the trailer in the future, all participated in a day filled with community spirit and a great atmosphere.
Minister for Social Affairs and Housing, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, gave a speech and cut the ribbon to the trailer as part of the opening ceremony.
