Alsik Hotel chooses in-house laundry

Alsik Hotel has chosen to have its own in-house laundry with a service agreement from Nortec. This provides them with the quality solution that matches the standards of the exclusive new hotel in the Danish-German border region – ensuring both budgetary control, environmental considerations and user-friendliness.

The Nordic-designed Alsik Hotel and Spa has made its mark as one of Denmark's largest hotels, standing at 70 meters tall with 19 floors. Designed by the renowned Danish architecture firm Henning Larsen Architects, the hotel is situated on the old picturesque waterfront of Svendborg. Here, guests are greeted with stylish architecture, exquisite gastronomy and unparalleled views from the 19-story building.

Alsik is part of Sønderborg's plan to become a CO2-neutral city by 2029. Currently, the hotel is 76% CO2-neutral, with ongoing efforts towards implementing new green solutions to achieve their goal.

The hotel has its own housekeeping department, and both the needs and ambitions for its hygiene standards are high. Therefore, finding the right laundry solution for the hotel was a demanding task.

Energy-efficient laundry strengthens Alsik's green profile

Alsik Hotel sought a green and environmentally friendly self-service laundry solution as part of their overall sustainability strategy. They have achieved this with their new, energy-efficient laundry facilities. The combination of a large and a smaller washing machine, along with corresponding dryers, enables Alsik to optimize resource usage based on the volume of textiles needing to be laundered.

A flexible and efficient self-service laundry solution

The right solution for Alsik Hotel was developed in close collaboration between Helle Lundbek and Nortec's Sales Director, Steen Duus. They opted for an in-house laundry with a service agreement where Alsik Hotel owns the machines, and Nortec handles ongoing service and maintenance. This solution provides the staff with full flexibility to wash continuously and eliminates the need for transporting laundry to and from an external facility.

Initially, Helle Lundbek had envisioned a setup consisting solely of large machines. However, Nortec recommended a combination of a large and a small machine, which offers greater flexibility and better economics. All machines are of the highest quality and designed for 30,000 hours of operation.

Given the extensive cleaning requirements, it was logical to install special machines with capacities of 9 kg and 20 kg respectively for local washing of mops and cloths. This reduces the need to purchase new cloths and mops, thereby reducing Alsik's investment in this area.

It provides us with full flexibility, as we can wash continuously and avoid transporting to and from an external laundry facility. New, flexible laundry provides economic savings

With the new in-house laundry, Alsik Hotel has obtained the professional solution that meets high standards: Flexibility ensures that staff always have the necessary cloths and mops available. Machines selected specifically to meet the hotel's needs include special MopCare™ programs and wool programs.

More laundry tasks can now be handled in-house with minimal energy and water consumption and high user-friendliness, ensuring efficient workflows. Opting for TotalService provides unlimited support from a local Nortec technician who responds rapidly, ensuring minimal downtime.

This means that Alsik Hotel has gained both operational and budgetary security, along with a low environmental impact that supports the hotel's green profile.
