New board member - Bjarne Riis

Bjarne Riis joins as a board member of Nortec A/S

As of today, Nortec welcomes Bjarne Riis, who joins the board. Bjarne brings many years of experience in leadership, coaching, and team development, which will be highly significant in his new role as a board member at Nortec.

Experience from cycling

After several decades in cycling, Bjarne has decided to shift his focus and utilize his experience and skills as a board member. During his time as a leader and team owner, Bjarne demonstrated his ability to manage a large team in an industry where change is a constant part of daily life. He knows a great deal about building a team and getting people to work even better together.

"A cycling team is not much different from a company. It's about people in both places. You need to make an organization function and perform. Additionally, it's about motivating employees and helping them realize their full potential. Why settle for mediocrity when you can create world-class instead?" says Bjarne Riis.

A call from an old friend

Bjarne has previously worked with Nortec's CEO, Michael Sand, when they co-owned a cycling team between 2016 and 2018. Given that Bjarne and Michael have worked closely together before, it was a natural opportunity to invite him to join Nortec's board when he decided to move back to Denmark.

When he received the call from Michael, he had no doubt.

I have worked with Michael before, and I know his values and mindset. We are both very passionate individuals, constantly striving to be the best and create a positive work culture for our team. Therefore, there wasn't much to think about when he asked if I wanted to join Nortec's board.

The new role

"At Nortec, we believe that there is always room for improvement. Bjarne has skills in team leadership that we can undoubtedly learn a lot from. Therefore, one of his tasks will be to promote our values and integrate them into our core DNA. Bjarne has extensive experience in getting teams to work together, achieve common goals, and develop as a unit, which is a quality we can greatly benefit from. He can also challenge our current approach and suggest ways to improve further," says Michael.

As a board member, Bjarne will contribute to developing Nortec as a workplace, coaching the leaders, and strengthening the down-to-earth and innovative culture that exists today. It's all about creating a positive experience for the employees – and ultimately also for the customer.

Nortec's board

Nortec's board consists of CEO Michael Sand, Chairman Torben Bang, Vice Chairman Tom Madsen, and board members Dan Vium, Jacob Amlund, Kim Clausen, Lars Andersen, Lone Jensen, Steen Duus, Steven Johnsen, Thomas Larsen and now Bjarne Riis.

The board is composed to represent a wide range of skills and perspectives. In an industry that is constantly evolving, innovation and knowledge sharing are vital elements for a company like Nortec. Bjarne brings a mindset that can challenge the current one and help promote the culture and values so that Nortec can continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

"An exciting challenge"

Bjarne shares his thoughts on joining the board and the work ahead of him in the coming period.

"It's going to be an exciting challenge, and I am very much looking forward to getting started. The initial period will be spent learning more about Nortec and getting to know the organization. It's important for me to develop a fundamental understanding of the company so that I can contribute as effectively as possible to the board, Nortec's culture, and the company as a whole," says Bjarne.

With Bjarne's commitment and dedication, expectations are high. Nortec looks forward to the collaboration and is confident that his approach and experience will be a valuable addition to the board's work and the company's continued development.
