Nortec strengthens its position

The Danish company, Nortec A/S, which specialises in professional laundry and charging station solutions, has acquired the laundry company, Service Centralen A/S. This acquisition strengthens Nortec's position in the Danish market, and with the acquisition of Service Centralen, Nortec gains Denmark's largest service department specialising in professional laundry solutions.

Denmark's largest service department

With the acquisition of Service Centralen, Nortec gains Denmark's largest service department with a large nationwide team of skilled and experienced service technicians specialising in professional laundry solutions. Michael Sand comments on the successful acquisition of such a well-renowned and traditional company as Service Centralen.

It is with great pleasure that we have entered into a purchase agreement with Thomas Larsen and Steven Johnsen, which means that Nortec is taking over Service Centralen.

Michael Sand, CEO and owner at Nortec

"Service Centralen is an incredibly well-run company with a strong reputation in the industry. Over the past many years, we have had a very good collaboration with Service Centralen, and it is therefore with great pleasure that we can now announce that we have entered into a purchase agreement with Thomas Larsen and Steven Johnsen, which means that we are taking over Service Centralen. Our long cooperation means that we have an in-depth knowledge of Service Centralen and know the high service level they represent. Service Centralen and Nortec are a perfect match in every respect, as we share many common values, and it is with pride that we can continue the company's activities. And even though we are now becoming a larger company, we still have our feet firmly planted on the ground with a focused aim on the next service task. From the start, we have been a service company, and we still are today. We thrive on satisfied customers, and the acquisition of Service Centralen means that we become a larger family with more service technicians, so we can continue to be close to our customers when they need our assistance," Michael continues.

Traditional service company

Service Centralen is a Danish-owned company currently owned by Thomas Larsen and Steven Johnsen. The company was founded back in 1980 by Bent Olsen, but Thomas and Steven took over the company in 2004 and have, over the past nearly 20 years, built it into the well-renowned service company it is today. Today, Service Centralen serves more than 500 laundries in housing associations, owner and cooperative associations, hospitals, nursing homes, institutions, hotels, laboratories and industrial companies.

The company's office is located in Glostrup, west of Copenhagen, and with its own service department, they have covered the entire Greater Copenhagen area from here. In connection with the acquisition, Nortec will take over all of Service Centralen's existing service contracts, and all the company's employees will also continue.

"Our customers have always been our top priority"

The sale to Nortec does not mark the end of the current owners' careers in the laundry industry. Thomas and Steven will both be employed by Nortec and will take an active role in the ongoing operations. Thus, Nortec will benefit from the two partners' more than 34 years of experience in the laundry industry, which will be used to continuously ensure that Nortec's many solutions always meet the needs and wishes of customers and users. Additionally, this will help ensure that Service Centralen's customers are well taken care of. Thomas Larsen and Steven Johnsen share these words about the sale of Service Centralen.

We are incredibly happy and proud of the agreement we have made with Nortec.

"We are incredibly happy and proud of the agreement we have made with Nortec. We have both reached a point in life where it has been important for us to create a plan for the future of Service Centralen, so we know that there is a long-term plan in place to ensure that our many loyal customers will continue to be well taken care of. Therefore, we are also very pleased that both our skilled employees and ourselves will continue our work. For this reason, we do not see this as the end of Service Centralen – but rather the beginning of a new chapter together with Nortec in a shared spirit. We are selling Service Centralen to a company that shares our values, and our customers can therefore expect the same excellent and attentive service that we have provided over the years. With the sale, we are making a generational shift in good time, giving our customers the assurance that we will be here in the long term to take care of their laundry needs. Additionally, we are incredibly excited to become part of a larger Danish company that has performed exceptionally well for many years, so we can continue the exciting journey together. The decision to sell the shares in Service Centralen to Nortec was therefore easy, and throughout the years, we have had a positive and constructive dialogue with Michael and Tom, and have always had deep respect for their skilled and professional way of running Nortec A/S," say Thomas and Steven.

The takeover takes place in March 2022

The takeover officially occurs on 1 March 2022, providing ample time to ensure a smooth transition to the new era. Service Centralen's many customers are therefore in good hands and can expect the same high level of service they have always been accustomed to.
